Buslink VIVO has been contracted by JKC Australia LNG Pty Ltd as the workforce bus transport provider for the construction of the Ichthys Project onshore LNG facilities. An exciting position has become available for a Mechanical Tades Assistant to join our Operations Team here at Buslink VIVO. This role, reporting directly to the workshop Supervisor/Fleet Manager, will require the suitable applicant to support the workshop team to provide mechanical maintenace of fleet vehicles, plant and equipment.

MECHANICAL TRADES ASSISTANT

Position Overview

The mechanical Trades Assistant is responsible for assisting the mechanics, conducting repairs and maintenacne of Buslink VIVO plant and mechanical equipment and for maintaining the workshop and associated equipment in a safe, clean and tidy condition.

Duties and Responsibilities

Assist mechanics in repairing plant and equipment;Skills Knowledge and Experience (Key Selection Criteria)

Works under the general direction of the Leading Hand Mechanic;

• Ability to perform assigned tasks with minimal supervision;
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions, memos, general correspondence and apply the knowledge of a reasonable person to carry out instructions;
• Ability to write simple correspondence;
• Ability to present information verbally in one-on-one situation and small groups;
• Basic numeracy skills, having the ability to use these skills with weight, volume and distance measurements;
• Developing knowledge of workshop procedures;
• Developing knowledge of  the use and maintenance of workshop equipment;
• Developing knowledge of the operation of a plant;
• General knowledge of Occupational Health, Safety and Welfare regulations; and
• Ability to work both autonomously and within a team.

Qualifications and Experience


• High school certificate or equivalent education certificate; one to three months’ related experience and or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
• Forklift certificate (desirable);
• Previous mechanical experience;
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and the ability to learn and develop;
• Hold a current national Manual “C” class driver’s licence; and
• Hold a current “MR” class driver’s licence.
